But best of all this solution is highly extensible. Without affecting the core data warehouse, customers can add data from other sources such as a CRM application. That data can then be used to populate the Template’s existing fact tables or cubes or can be used to populate new fact tables or cubes. It’s their choice. Reporting no longer has to access the customer’s source system data and historical data can be stored in the data warehouse.

Business Impact has brought together best of breed tools for this solution. WhereScape RED builds, deploys, operates and enhances the data warehouse and Analysis Services cubes. For reporting, almost any reporting tool that the customer currently has can be used, provided the tool can read an Analysis Services cube or a fact/aggregate table. If the customer is using Excel today and wants to upgrade to a more sophisticated solution, Business Impact recommends that they look at the tools from TARGIT or Strategy Companion. Finally, if the customer is concerned that the data stored in their source systems may have integrity issues, Business Impact has a low cost solution that will allow for the data to be profiled and cleansed.
